Cambria and her practice are grounded in the principles of Functional Medicine. Mike Perry, FMHC, CNC
Functional Medicine Wellness Coach,
Certified Micro-Current Technician
Mike is a Wellness Coach, certified with the Institute of Functional Medicine. He works closely with practitioners to implement wellness plans based on Functional Medicine principles, positive psychology and mind body medicine. His focus is to facilitate clarity of wellness goals, establish the motivating factors behind them and explore some specific first steps that can be taken. For a wellness plan and journey to work, it must be our own plan, and it must have true meaning or most people will not stick with it.
Nutrition has been a huge aspect of Mike’s life since about 30 years ago when he decided to become a vegetarian. Over time, he thought he had his nutritional needs fairly well figured out, until he started studying Functional Medicine and did food sensitivity testing about 6 years ago. He found out that he is sensitive to dairy, even though there were no obvious signs. After six weeks of no dairy, 100% of the arthritis in his hands disappeared. This was a condition that both his Mother and Grandmother lived with, unnecessarily most of their lives. Then he discovered he had a genetic defect, MTHFR C677T that plays a huge role in how well the body detoxifies and assimilates vitamins and nutrients.
Thanks to Functional Medicine, Mike has added many factors that have helped him fine tune his own wellness plan. These factors have been major contributors to his overall improved health and wellness. This experience motivates him everyday to introduce others to Functional Medicine, and in helping them take those first few steps toward achieving their wellness goals no matter how small they may seem.
The other half of Mike's day is focused on pain management utilizing a state of the art micro-current device that utilizes bio-feedback and artificial intelligence to reduce and eliminate inflammation and pain. Based on Nobel Prize winning research, this device is used extensively by professional athletes, retired athletes and quite successfully with race horses. More detail about micro-current treatments can be found on this site under the Services tab.
In Mike's spare time he looks forward to getting out on his road bike, a local surf break or riding a horse from time to time.
